Tottenham Hotspur fans were thrilled with the contribution of Son Heung-Min as Mauricio Pochettino’s men thumped Red Star Belgrade 4-0 on Wednesday evening.

Spurs travelled to Belgrade knowing that a win would put them in a preferential position to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League; if they beat Olympiacos later this month, they will go through.

Of course, their form this season has been mixed – they have won just three times in the Premier League and Bayern Munich thumped them 7-2 in north London in Europe – but Son was in excellent form as Spurs quieted a raucous home crowd in Serbia.

The South Korea international, who was left in tears against Everton after his unfortunate involvement in the grisly fracture-dislocation sustained by Andre Gomes, scored twice on the night in what turned out to be a comfortable victory.

And supporters flocked to Twitter to praise the forward for his performance.
