Leeds United’s title charge is temporarily on hold for the foreseeable future, meaning they’ll have to wait a little longer to secure that elusive return to the top-flight, but the current situation sweeping the world of football may have brought a major benefit to one member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.Kalvin Phillips has been watched by England manager Gareth Southgate this season, but with the European Championships being delayed for a year, YEP chief football writer Graham Smyth believes his chances of making the squad will now only increase. He issued a response to a supporter on Twitter, he said:

The west Yorkshire outfit sit seven points clear of the playoffs with only nine games remaining, barring any catastrophic events, they should be back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

And with another season to display his talents, even more so on the elite stage, Phillips’ chances of making the England squad should ramp up substantially providing he doesn’t get injured, or Leeds unexpectedly tail off.

Are you a Championship expert? How much did each of these big-money signings cost?

So despite all the negatives at the minute, this could be one huge shining light for the Leeds star.
